Max Jones Fieldhouse Unveils Lobby Addition Plans
For more than 50 years, the Max Jones Fieldhouse has served the community hosting athletic competitions and community events.
At the recent Sherman County alumni all school reunion held in Goodland June 30 – July 2, 2022, a plan for a lobby addition were unveiled. This addition includes a new lobby area and entry plaza.
A new cowboy statue and engraved brick donor pavers will greet fans and visitors at the new entry plaza. The plaza will also include gathering and sitting areas, as well as a new bus loop.
The lobby addition includes a the construction of a new expanded lobby area featuring:
- Hall of fame
- Display case showcasing past and present achievements
- Spirit shop
- Ticket counter area
- Additional ADA-compliant restrooms
- including a new family restroom
- Renovated home & visitor locker rooms
Named after a former board of education member and local attorney, and constructed in 1965. The circular shaped gymnasium is the home court for the Goodland High School Cowboys and Cowgirls and the Northwest Kansas Technical College Mavericks.
