North & West Elementary School Renovations & Additions

The North and West Elementary School additions were part of a $15.4 million bond issue which successfully passed with the assistance of the GMCN team. Both facilities were in need of additional classroom spaces and upgrades leading to creative design solutions in order to meet the growing district demands.

The existing layout of the North and West Elementary Schools posed a security issue to students since they were required to exit the facility in order to access some of the classrooms. Our designers created circulation paths that connected the new addition to the existing facility through interior hallways. Access control systems were implemented as well as security entry at vestibules.

The North and West Elementary School additions include two multi-purpose rooms where each can be divided into two classrooms. The band room/storm shelter has a capacity for 353 people which can be divided into two classrooms spaces. Part of the project also included converting an unused interior courtyard into restrooms. Other school improvements included energy efficient HVAC and electrical systems and upgraded new windows.
